Eulogy to the Queen-bee

Forever I smile less, for a vow of silence,
My world judges, and you see as a weakness.
Push me further, I may fall off the cliff,
But drag you along I will in this tiff.

Fear I don't, the scalding sun,
Your wings will burn, I have but none.
My shoulders grow heavy, sweat and I pant,
I may be no-one, but a proud worker ant.

Chapter 1 - A Firefly called Peach

The firefly with the dimmest of lights had just set foot on the land of Ichtyr. The land held great promise for all those who managed to walk the stony path laid by the fairies and fireflies of the fading age. For so seduced was every firefly and fairy by the fate that beheld them, that the prickly thorns and demons would bear not enough pain to their nimble feet or fragile soul. The suppressed pain would help them evolve into their inherent winged and demonic natures.

This is the story of Shade, half-demon half-fairy. Shade was not without company in Ichtyr. Mills would be his partner in crime in defeating the elder demons. But what was most intriguing about the magical land was that the more they battled the demons, the more they saw themselves turn into them. Still a little of that fairy was left in them . Mills always wanted to meet the fireflies even as a half-demon on this demon infested land. And more specifically, Mills wanted to meet the dim-lit firefly who so openly inherited Shade's spot at the carnival.  Now an inheritance at the carnival was a tricky business. Those who choose to inherit something valuable at the carnival inevitably kept them at the crystal's eye of the earlier inheritor. The earlier inheritor would be most disastrously a half demon or a full demon. Shade had thrown his crystal eye ages back because he despised the carnivals. But what Shade had cast away, Mills kept safe. And Mills persuaded Shade to summon the dim-lit firefly to the Zero-One tree. With half a heart, Shade agreed to meet the dim-lit firefly. The dim-lit firefly came with another firefly. Mills was happy with the glowing firefly called June. Shade was indifferent and bored. The dim-lit one was a firefly called Peach.

to be contd....

My Favorite Romantic Movie Of All Time

Today, I watched the Korean movie “The Classic”, in Korean “Keulrasik” for like the zillionth time. The story line, cinematography and the background score, like always, has managed to keep me captivated throughout the duration of the entire movie. The film started showing provincial sceneries while the music which seemed so familiar but long forgotten, played in the background. It was peaceful and before long into the story, it would soothe even a turbulent soul.

The plot opens with the introduction of the ever so enchanting female lead who is alone in her house, clearing out the books inside the cabinet. As she is done, she grabs a box that contained a lot of letters and a diary. She goes onto explain that this box contained the memories of a love story , which might as well be a cliché for many, but for her, it was "a classic". It contained the remnants of the first love of her mother. The movie goes on to reveal two love stories at the same time :- the past and the present. The direction and cinematography was done so perfectly that at no point of time would we get confused as to which time-line was being followed in the movie. The transition was impeccable.  Watching the story of the past, anyone would wish that the same beautiful innocent romance would happen in their life too.

The connection between the two love stories was well- conceived. Even though the a fair amount of a fairy-tale ending was put in for good measure, for dreamers and believers in fate, this climax would add up to perfection. Yet, it is not without a sense of tragedy that the love story of the past would end. The only relief is that death is not the reason for the tragedy. The tragedy also stems from the love and innocence of the loving souls. The story retained the feeling of purity up to the end.

I am sorry but I really shouldn't put too much of the plot  in this blog. The ending is happy one. And it is the only romantic movie to make me cry till date. And that is why this movie has been my favorite romantic movie of all time ever since I saw it. I would rate this movie a 10 out of 10 .

Breaking the Ice

The time we were on skates
You said you would slip and fall
Told you I was your jack of spades
My name then you softly told.

We glade gently on the shiny mirror
Butterflies you said you saw
Red blue and yellow shimmer
Whispered you'd never let go.

Gentle the breeze felt on your side
Entranced by th' fragrance you wore
‘Let these winds be our guide
Into the horizon let us soar.’

Concern broke into smile
Her arm wrapp’d around me
‘Wish we were on an isle
No one else, just you and me.’
